- What do I get with my General Admission?
- Your General Admission ticket includes two full days of access to the Museum from 9:30 AM – 5:00PM (Hours subject to change) — the day of purchase and the following day. With your ticket, you’ll receive a Museum map and can download our free app for self-guided audio commentary throughout your visit.
- General Admission includes:
- Unlimited access to all Museum exhibits (self-guided)
- Live historical presentations by costumed reenactors
- Musket and cannon firing demonstrations (weather permitting)
- Free re-entry across both days with your original ticket
- Bonus: If you’re interested in both our Living History experience (daytime Museum admission) and our evening Haunted History Tours, you can bundle both tickets for a discount. When purchased together, you’ll receive 20% off your Haunted History tour.

- Is the Museum a guided tour, or may I explore on my own?
- The Museum is self-guided with timed History Presentations and Military Demonstrations by our uniformed and expert staff. We provide a map upon entry to help you explore the 45,000 Square feet of Fort Footprint on all 3 levels and you can also download our free app at the admissions desk to enjoy audio overviews throughout your visit.

- Do I have to attend the historical presentations, or may I just explore on my own?
- You’re welcome to explore on your own. Historical presentations by our reenactors occur hourly or every two hours, depending on the season. These are included with admission, and weather permitting, they conclude with a musket and cannon firing. You may join a presentation at any time and many guests choose to attend just for the live firing demonstrations. It’s entirely up to you.
- What if the weather is poor? Is the Museum indoors or outdoors?
- About 80% of the Museum exhibits are indoors. However, you will need to go outside to move between buildings. Some demonstrations also take place outdoors and may be cancelled or moved in the event of heavy rain, so it’s a good idea to dress appropriately and bring along any umbrellas or raincoats. The Sutler Shoppe is fully Air-Conditioned and Heated.
- May I bring my dog?
- Yes, leashed and well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the Museum. However, we do fire muskets and cannons throughout the day, which may not be suitable for noise-sensitive pets. Please note: dogs are not permitted on the Haunted History tours due to dark, tight spaces.
- May I access the Sutler Shoppe without purchasing Museum admission?
- Yes! The Museum foyer and gift shop are open to the public with no admission fee.
- May I leave for lunch and come back later?
- Yes. Museum admission includes full access for two days — the day of purchase and the following day. Come and go as you please by showing your original ticket. (Note: This does not apply to Haunted History tours, which are separate, timed-entry events.)
- Are the Haunted History tours included with General Admission?
- No, they are separate evening tours that require an additional ticket. These fully guided experiences last about an hour. However, if you purchase your General Admission and Haunted History tour tickets together, you’ll receive 20% off the tour price.
- Do you offer any admission discounts?
- Yes! Seniors, Students and Kids all have reduced Admission plus:
- $10 admission for all U.S. Veterans and active/reserve/retired military personnel (ID required). This applies to the individual service member only.
- $5 off General Admission for guests staying at Fort William Henry Hotel.
- We also run special event discounts throughout the year, including scheduled reduced admission weekends for residents of Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties during Community Days, and there are usually coupons available at other establishments throughout Lake George. Please check our website calendar for current offers.

- Is parking available? Do we have to pay for it?
- Yes. FREE PARKING is available at the Museum at 46 Canada Street for most of the year. During special village events, a parking fee may apply — however, Museum visitors will have this fee credited toward their admission, effectively making parking free with a ticket purchase. If you already purchased your ticket online, please show your reservation to the attendant.
- Is there a café or snack bar?
- We do not have a café, but our gift shop offers bottled water, soft drinks, iced tea, ice cream novelties, and roasted nuts. Ask about our restaurants and shops: Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge, Lookout Bar & Grill, and The Candy Apple!
- May I continue to explore the Museum after the 4:00 PM presentations?
- Unfortunately, no. The Museum closes at 5:00 PM. If you plan to attend the 4:00 PM presentation, please arrive between 3:00–3:30 PM to allow enough time to enjoy the exhibits beforehand. And remember — your admission is valid for two days, so you can always return the next day!
- May I take photos or videos in the Museum?
Guests are welcome to take still photographs and video recordings for personal, noncommercial use throughout Fort William Henry, including exhibit and museum areas, unless signage indicates otherwise. To help preserve artifacts and ensure a positive experience for all visitors, flash photography is not permitted inside the museum. The use of tripods, lighting equipment, drones, and similar accessories is not allowed anywhere on Fort William Henry property unless prior written approval has been obtained. Any commercial photography or videography requires advance authorization. Requests must be submitted prior to arrival by contacting Fort William Henry at [email protected].
Notice of Recording: While on the property, visitors may be photographed, filmed, or recorded by Fort William Henry for educational, marketing, or promotional purposes, including use on the organization’s website, social media platforms, and other public-facing materials.
- Do I need a separate ticket for Haunted History Ghost Tours?
- Haunted History Tours are NOT included with General Admission, they require a separate ticket purchase
